CARS The Best And Worst Years For Chrysler's Mopar 440ci V8 Engine

Seems like an odd article to me about just the 440. All V8's by every manufacture from that era suffered the same emissions/fuel economy fate.
 
I don't know why but I had several late 440s blocks that did not need an overbore. Why? Maybe just luck and were not as woreout? I admit I always preferred a good 383 with a stick and 3:55 gears to a 440 with AT and 3:23/ But I am no racer.
I would not trade a good 383 for 5 340s/ Call me crazy!!!!
