So im putting together a 318 for my dart. i got a spread bore intake 4323352-3 i think is off a 360 and my bro just picked me up a carter 9626 that came off a 340, spread bore too . so the bolt pattern works but the butterflys wont open all way, they hit the intake , should i be using some kind of spacer ? the carb linkage also hits the EGR valve. i would have thought it would bolt right up.

9626 is a square flange carb. A spread bore is a carter thermoquad or rochester quadrajet. you probably have a miss-match. You'll likely need a spacer or proper intake or carb.

yup....

I should be more clear. The primary throttle blades on the 9626 are much larger than the spread bore therefore they will not open without a spacer. The adapter can be had at near any parts store.

interesting , i figured since the front 2 bores were smaller than the back 2 it were spread bore . or did i miss something i though square bore all four bore were same size. what did i miss.

You have the right idea with the bore size differences but when there very close in size, it is still a square bore. The minor difference is overlooked.

A true spreadbore is a TQ or Quadrajet. The dif is huge. Use a Edelbrock thick gasket. There a out a 1/4 inch thick. This will help keep the carb cool like the OE gasket did and seal it up well.

gotcha , Thanks

weve got a square bore . now to get a adapter and get this thing workin

Use the thick gasket, skip the adapter, look to the Edelbrock site for tips pictures and help with there suggested parts

only difference between the 9625 and 9626 is the linkage...9626 linkage is for a mopar..

thanks , got any links i couldnt find what im looking for on the edelbrock web page. would a thick gasket work ? appears on the square bore the butterflies are closer together in the middle. linkage still hits the egr valve , mayby is a 9625 with incorrect linkage for mopar ?
