Hey folks,

My Duster just started to run lean all of a sudden. So I checked the fuel filter, Carb and even checked out the ignition. All clear.
Well, there was a slight issue of the vacuum advance on the distributer going out but that has been rectified.

So I took off the Carter M6270 Fuel pump that I've been using for almost 2 years, I decided to take it apart. I wanted to see if it is rebuidable, it looks like it can however I'm having a hard time finding rebuild parts for it.
And I also found this little piece of rubber foam in it...
There is no reference to this mystery part and my gut tells me this does not belong.
I've never rebuild these pumps before but it does look fairly simple.

Have you called Carter? They have a really helpful tech line. The foam may be some sort of filter element. I'd ask them just to be sure. They'll refer you to a company that makes rebuild kits for them too. They run about $50 though, which is ridiculous for what it is.

did that piece of foam come out of the dry side of the pump ?

sure looks odd

Yes the foam is normal. Mancini might have a rebuild kit if it needs.

I emailed Mancini a while back...and they directed me to here...emailed them and the response below is what I got..

Thank you for your inquiry .

The cost of the kit is $47.50 plus shipping .
