Changing speedo gears

I was wondering if when changing the speedometer gear in a 727 from a 30 to a 40
Can I just switch gears or is there something I have to do.

Just make sure that the speedometer pinion housing is clocked properly in the tailshaft for the corresponding gear number that is installed.

And how do I clock it properly?

There are notches and numbers to line up. The housing as off-sided so that a bigger gear is further away from the output shaft.

You can install the housing and turn it back and forth to find the neutral position (low drag sweet spot)
