Checking Level in A-833 OD?

How can I tell if I have the right level in my A-833 OD? I am running ATF and it occassionally drips some. So I need to check my level sometimes.

For future reference. Can someone recommend a rebuild kit for it too?

There are two drain plugs on the pass side of the trans, the bottom one is for draining & the top one is for filling. I fill mine up until it just starts to run out.
