I have been meaning to check my trans fluid. Is there a way to determine the fluid level while the engine/trans is cold? everything is always scolding hot once I get back from a drive. I know it should be in neutral but I was thinking there would be a way to determine the level when sitting cold and in park.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks for your time

yes...check it went it cold in neutral....just allow a small increase on the dipstick for went it gets hot.....

Like Tony says allow for an increase as the fluid warms up. When cold I like to see it just barely below the add a pint mark.

Park it on level ground and check it one more time "hot" to make sure it is where it is supposed to be. After it cools off, check it again and make a "cold" mark on your dipstick with an engraver or something if you can't find a good reference point.
Then, you can always check it cold...
