Choke thermostat problem

-
Ive seen those cups that go in the manifolds under the choke listed NOS on eBay a few times over the past year or so .. I'm not actually looking as my /6 Is newer but that's probably why I've seen them

Oops…careful, you are about to cause yourself unnecessary hardship. Those gaskets will make nightmares for you. It is very much worth your time, effort, and money to get the good gaskets for the manifolds-to-head and intake-to-exhaust junctions. That way you have to do the job only once.

Hello Dan
I suppose that you especially talk about the metallic gasket which goes between the exhaust manifold and the intake one (the head to manifolds gasket is thick and composite and IMHO won't be tricky).
Effectively, it's made of a thin metallic leaf and I don't plan to use it.
Remflex gaskets aren't available in Europe and ordering a set in USA would be a financial suicide... :poke:
I plan to cut a gasket in a very high temp 2mm thick composite gasket sheet, using the metallic gasket as a template.

That will work well for the intake-to-exhaust gasket, and you don't have to have the crossbar in that gasket—it does not serve a purpose—you just need the perimeter. If your manifolds are not warped and the surfaces where they meet the cylinder head are flat, the regular gasket will work okeh at that location. If not…then not.
