Christmas came early!

Congrats!!! That's awesome.
I picked up the magazine the other day, looked through it and thought that car looked awfully familiar.
Way to go!!!

Thanks John!.........love to see that calender....Hey I was just looking at your 71 Demon photos and was wondering if your idle stop solenoid still functions? That is a very nice driver indeed....I need to find me one, if Small Block was a lil closer I would have probably bought his 72 by now....what a deal! Merry Christmas John!
Drop me a PM with your address and I can send you a calendar. Still have a few left.
As far as the idle stop solenoid still functioning,I will say it doesn't. Worst part is I don't remember what purpose it serves, someone may need to refresh my memory.

Nice, Dave, very nice. Hemming's and now this. (Squint hard at the photos in Mopar Action from the survivors' tent at Carlisle and you can see the hood up, too. LOL) I'll have to hit the newsstands and see if I can't pick it up. Got the Hemming's already, now I'll have to get this one. Guess I'll need to get some autographs from the famous magazine car next year won't I?

Hey Robert! Merry Christmas! Yeah she's making the rounds for sure........no problem, I pan on being there next year too! Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday season & more prosperous New Year!

Way to go Mr. Moore! You got a really nice Christmas present there! Aloha and Mele Kalikimaka!!

Keep...keepin that Lemon Twist shiny...she sure is pretty!

Aloha Mike

WOW! Congratulations man, all I can say is I am jealous! I have sent pics to mopar mags for their Pentastars pics and have never gotten a sniff. Way to go!

Is MCR worth paying for a subscription?
I was checking it out at the news stand and I wasn't sure if it was a monthly mag and if it was always full of good stuff.

Nice ride too!

Well worth the subscription price.....especially if you like all muscle cars...love the articles like this one which talks about the zinc issue in today's motor oil..I've been a subscriber for over 20 years now and look forward to every issue...Dave

John, The idle stop solenoid was used to prevent dieseling or run -on once the ignition was turned off. This was especially important on manual shift cars that idle at 900 rpm such as my 340. The hot idle is set with the adjustable brass plunger on the solenoid not the carb idle screw....when the ignition key is turned on 12v goes to the solenoid pushing it out against the carb linkage and sets the proper idle for your application. Once the key is turned off the plunger de-energizes and abruptly drops the idle well below the set idle point fully closing the primary throttle butterfly's and thus aiding in the run-on condition stated earlier. Almost all of the time these solenoids are found frozen and inoperative...sometimes all it takes is a little penetrating fluid sprayed around the plunger to loosen it up and get it working again......Hope this helps!..........Dave

Thanks for that info Dave. I seen in you photos the plunger was out. So I will have to say mine doesn't work since I never saw the plunger out on mine since I owned the car. Maybe I'll have to try what you said by spraying it down with penatrating fluid and free it.

Most guys use PB Blaster but I really like using Free All.....most auto parts stores have it, I know NAPA does...I useit almost every day on frozen tie rod sleeves during a wheel alignment...good luck, let me know! Dave

I'll give that a shot sometime when it gets warmer......and no snow.

Most of just crank up the torch for those frozen tie rod sleeves...:-D (Then wait forever for it to cool down so we can get the proper specs...LOL)

Seriously, I don't know how many times I've seen guys take a torch to a jamb nut or sleeve, make their adjustments, lock everything down, then wonder why it's out of spec before they even take the heads off...then start complaining that something's wrong with the heads or the car or the plates while never thinking something's wrong with the technician...:-\"
