cleaning my power steering pump

i want to clean the funk out of my power steering reservoir before i put it back in my car
what should i use ( thats safe on the seals )

A rebuild kit, or reseal kit. Without knowing what pump, a large number of p/s pumps have a debris collecting magnet inside the reservoir. Kind of like transmission pans, some do, some don't. Where there is one, you cant' properly clean it. Where there isn't one, its wise to add one.
