Mini-tubbing and leaf springs on our a-bodies equates to a tight fit on the passenger side of our cars, huh?? I'm trying to find out how some of you came up with options when running your stock gas tanks with this combination? On my altered '64, along with the relocation kit, it puts the springs within a hairs width on the stock gas tank welded flange. I'm glad I chose to use leaf spring sliders to help lock in the rear end of the springs so as not to sway side to side. I loosened the gas tank strap, and wedged a 2"x4" piece to buy a scant more room, but it appears that under a hard compression (like that of oh JEEZ, look out for that dip in the road!!!) the strap portion gets touched. How'd you guys work yourselves around this "tight spot"??? And why did Chrysler offset the tank over to the passenger side??? To offset driver weight, maybe??? Let me see if I can get a picture of what I've got and post it up.
Other than this small glitch, and still trying to balance those big a-100 drumbrakes up front from pulling to one side or the other, my altered drives like any other "somewhat" normal car!!!
