We are reassembling our 1971 Plymouth Scamp after having the 318 redone by Valley Performance in Michigan (Edelbrock heads & intake, forged pistons, custom cam, 400 plus hp on dyno.) Additionaly, we have all new QA1 front end components including K member. We have attached the original rebuilt A230 (column shift 3 speed) with a super street pro McLeod clutch and Quick Time SFI bell housing. We are experiencing interference between the clutch fork and the shift rods for the column shift as shown in the photos below.

Has anyone had experience with a column shift A body and aftermarket bell housing? Or suggestions on how one might correct this fitment issue?

It appears that bellhousing has positioned the clutch fork farther up than the original bellhousing. Is there a reason you're running the quicktime bellhousing? You gonna race it? With a column shift?

Here are pictures of a barracuda we are doing right now. We installed a frame on the assembly to make the z-bar to fit the headers. You can see the difference of the fork location compared to yours. Some of the aftrmarket bells you need to use a different fork depending on the pivot location in the bell. There are also different pivots which move the location of the fork.. I am lucky to have all the different styles here to mock up what is needed.

It is much easier to fit parts using a fixture . easier to make mods without the car body in the way. Hope some of these pictures help

Your fixture is impressive, I can see the benefit of being able to set everything up outside the vehicle. Do you recommend a source for different forks or pivots?

I buy everything that I need from Dan at Brewers Transmission. Call and ask to speak to him. You may have the wrong parts. He was always great for info for me,

The little that I can see of the fork pivot in your pictures, it looks like you have sb/bb truck fork pivot shown as FP312 on Brewer's site when it should have A-body pivot FP848. There only a few pivots used for the long fork and Brewer's site shows good pictures so you might be able to see what you have without taking it apart.

Most pivots and forks are a match set, if you change one for another, you move the fork away from or into the throw out bearing. He has changed a lot of stuff. This is where modifying parts start.
