Hey guys,
We changed our '70 Dart from an automatic to a 4 speed and I was just wondering if this switch is necessary? As it is, it will start in gear, we just have to make sure it's in Neutral. Doesn't sound that safe to me, but I'm not the main driver. Whatcha think? Does anyone know where to get one of these?

I think Brewers has them but your jaw will hit the floor when you see
the price.....

Never had em in the old days...many a time started the car in gear.

Don't use it. Just wire the starting relay directly to a ground.
Pushing down the clutch pedal during start-up puts a lot of force on the axial crank bearing, and when there's no oil pressure during the start-up, those bearings might not like that very much.
Plus, the countershaft is rotating during that start up, and starts slinging oil everywhere, which makes it easier and better to engage first gear.
