1968 FB B'cuda, 030 340, 11:01 comp. heavily worked T/A heads 202/160, Hughes solid cam, 245/250- 560/575, Edy street tunnelram with 600 vac. sec. holleys, 4 speed. I plan on using a Centerforce dual friction clutch, S/S springs and a 27" 0r 28" tall tire. My question is gear ratio. right now it has 4:56 gears and can't be driven anywhere. Do you think I could get away with 3:91s? or would 4:10s be a better choice? Will the 3:91s be to high for getting off the line and or taxing the clutch? It will hopefully be at the track a couple times a month and street driven also. Our new track (hopefully) is about 35 miles away. Always appreciate the info from you folks. Kevin

Go with the 3:91 ratio. If you plan to street it more than strip it you will be pleased with the 3:91 s. You can drop your tire height for the srtip and gain some lower ratio to the ground. Just a thought....

I have 4.10 in the 75 Dart and drive it to work sometimes on the hwy.

I wish I had 3.91's or even one step higher.

3.91s with a 4 speed will work great - and give you some drivability on the street. I've been running 4.30s and am switching to 3.91s for the very same reason - streetability.

I've got a mild 440/727 with 3.73 ratio on 28"tres in a 69 cuda.
It cruises fine at 100kph(62mph) at 2600rpm.
At the strip on 28" slicks the standard convertor shows though.
3wks ago ran a 12.6@105 with a 1.818 60' weighing 3432lb.

I dont know if I'd call Centerforce a race clutch. Good tires, and easy launches are not what makes them live and hold well. You may want to think about a more race type clutch if you plan to drag race it often and run sticky tires.

I have read alot of comments on the centerforce. Many say they live just fine, others have had problems. I can't afford $1100 to $1900 for a race setup so centerforce seems the best compromise.

Well, I like them for street and general performance. But a 3000 rpm launch with sticky tires will more than likely wear it very fast. Just an FYI. I dont recall seeing prices on clutches that high. But mayeb we are not talking apples to apples here...Even if you need a new flywheel (SFI a good idea...) Hays or Ram has stuff listed for about $600.
