Comp cams degreeing issue

There are over 6 datums that can throw things off. Cam key way, cam sprocket key way, crank key way, crank sprocket key way and the aliment marks plus every link in the chain.

My 460 was off several degrees and had to retard it to get it dialed in. It's just the way it goes.

You forgot to mention the how-many-ever differences in block machining and cam / crank centerline.
 
Do people use the "Mopar" degree wheel system or a generic wheel system..apparently the Mopar ones are different??

How is a round device that splits a circle into 360 equal segments different?

That too and if it was align honed again... and the chain teeth....oh and the thrust play, but that would be minor.

LOL. There's "watts" and "Bird watts." There's "degrees" and "Mopar degrees"

If you really want something to worry about... Degree in each cylinder not just number one. You'll lay awake at night. Install it and have fun.
