Any one using a compact spare? I just put rear disks on my dart and would like to have a 15" 5x45 compact spare to fit over the rotors for a spare. Any Idea what will fit?
Thanks, Ray

I looked at a spare from a Lincoln Town Car (customer's car) and it was compact. Keep telling myself that I'm gonna look for another some day. Until then, I have a cell phone and a AAA card.

Some E-bodies came with the compact spare.

Convertibles and Hemis if I remember correctly and possibly the six pack cars....

Around here there are none in the junk yards, they scrap them fast.

This out of a 80's Diplomat/RWD NewYorker.Fits factory discs and gives the A body a nice flat trunk floor.

You mean one of these? its an InflataSpare from a 1977 Dodge Aspen. If this can work for you let me know and we can work out a price + shipping.

Compact and airless spares are more for looks on our cars. If you have bigger sized rear tires and a Sure Grip rear, a smaller diameter spare used on one side might ruin the clutches in the rear end. Call A tow truck or a friend. The E body airless spares go for hundreds$$$ at swap meets. tmm

C talked a guy down $100 for me at a MMW swap one year!!! :D

She's a good person to take through the swap area... Along with Kegan B who can spot parts from 50 paces....

I just want piece of mind if I do get a flat I have something to put on. Roger I appreciate it but I need a 15" because of the rear jeep disks on the car. I have only seen full size jeep spares. I want to put one in the well without having to buy another rim and tire.

I agree. The airless spare is for looks and the other compact spare would provide some measure of a backup is you had a flat. This is what happens when I post before my morning coffee. :coffee:

Check the old XJ's (Cherokee) and possibly the early ZJ (Grand Cherokee).

When I bought my XJ/cherokee, part of the reason that I picked that one is it had the full size spare. Most had a smaller one. I believe it was the only one I saw with a full size spare when I was looking.

Check out the ones in the early to mid 90's era....

Here's a link to a database listing salvage yards across the country that you can search for specific parts:

Thanks, now I feel guilty! Dam anger therapy does not work, I want my money back NOW!

Hey now...

You're lucky I didn't see that before my second post.... LOL! :violent1:

Hey I posted my post before your post while typing another post while you were reading my post while being yelled at and the dog chasing the cat who was chasing something then I farted.

Now that's funny

Newer mustang GT or base with the factory 17" bullitt style wheels. This spare may be the right diameter to match your tire diameter on the rear. As another poster said earlier in this thread mismatched diameter tires on the rear even if its a spare to limp home can wipe out clutches in a sure grip.

I have a 2007 mustang GT, i can measure the width, and tire diameter and post here if anybody is interested. I am sure it will clear the discs as my GT discs are pretty big, and it has a 5 on 4&1/2" pattern.

Being as the GT comes with a limited slip as well, i am sure Ford engineers know about mismatched diameter tires on the back wiping out the limited slip, plus a mismatched diameter spare making for an unsafe vehicle if even just to get you home in a pinch. They want the consumer after putting the spare on to be able to drive the vehicle without it feeling any different, or having any ill driving characteristics.

Need to check anyways as i need a compact spare for my project car as well.

Matt

The car has 15" 225 75 on it all the way around. I am just want a spare the same diameter to get home without breaking anything. I live in the middle of nowhere with almost no cell reception to call a tow truck. And I have a sure grip also. I did not even think about the spare until I was stacking the old 14's in the shop.

Yeah, well I was posting my post while you were posting your post, then I posted my second post while you were typing the other post while I was reading your post while being yelled at and the dog chased the cat who was chasing something when you farted while I was replying to your post that was directed at my post while we were both posting....

But while you are farting, you may want to consider this:

Nice no response, one thing I do while drinking and farting is ask HOW THE HELL DID WE GET HERE?

The car has 15" 235 75 on it all the way around. I am just want a spare the same diameter to get home without breaking anything. My Pirellis 235/55ZR17 are 27.2" diameter.
Yours 235/75R15 are 28.9" diameter.

By this id have to suppose my spare is about 27.2" diameter
