compact spare

not completely off topic I hope
but I bought an 08 charger AWD the other day (as a winter beater)
so I bought a second set of rims with it, one set with all season tires and one set with snow tires
once I got all 4 tires in the garage I got the bright idea to take one of the set I wasn't using and toss it in the trunk as a spare tire so I could do away with the donut that was in there (funny thing, the manual sternly warns against using different sized tires but doesn't say a word about the donut being 1/4 the size of a real tire)
so I take the donut out, put a real one in there and there is no way it will fit, the spare tire well is to narrow and to shallow for a full size tire

what the heck?
 
Welcome to the you have to buy a 200 compact tire if it ever wears out club.

I used a tire diameter calculator off the net. I can only suppose my spare is,similar diameter to the tires on the car

My.pirellis are 27.2" diameter

Your tires are 28.9" diameter.

I can still check the spare tonight after the kids are in bed. My wifes a nurse, she works nights on the weekends, so i babysit the kids. I get to do my stuff when they are in bed.
