Hoping someone can give me a first hand comparison between the two as far as finish, materials and quality.
Do you think they are better quality?the rockets look better
they're probably pretty close in all those things. are these strictly street, occasional drag racing, auto-x/track days? other than auto-x/track days, or a full on drag car, either of these should give you a long life. if these are going to be 50% or more track wheels, i'd get something the manufacturer says is track worthy. i've cracked low end ($125 range) wheels auto-xing on street tires and think the extra $$ is worth it
the chrome will be easier to keep shiny. the rockets come chromed
The legends are a chrome wheel, the rocket I was referring to is a polished wheel and I am more concerned about the quality of the wheel including workmanship and materials. Polished and chrome both have their pros and cons but you need a good starting point so with that being said which do you feel offers the best materials and quality? They’re both chromed, the Legends aren’t a polished wheel.
I have a set of the legend 5’s on my Challenger and have for years and tens of thousands of miles. To be clear, I had the standard painted and machined finish and not chrome. Car lived outside and was driven year round in all weather conditions. The wheels are still in great shape.
They do require a narrow lug nut, a standard 3/4” lug nut won’t work. I use splined “tuner” lugs on mine, they work great.
They are inexpensive wheels, so, not all the finishing was perfect. One area I noticed was the center bore, mine had paint overspray inside the bore and not full coverage. But that’s totally covered by the wheel cap from the outside. One of the wheels I had also had a couple of paint “holidays” deep in the recess for the lug nuts, but again mounted on the car that was impossible to see. They aren’t the same quality as the Enkei’s on my Duster, but they’re also about 1/3 the price.
Here's something to consider for chromed wheels:
Several years ago we purchased a new car with chromed factory wheels. After several years we had one wheel/tire that developed a slight leak. It turned out that the chrome on the wheel surface inside the tire had started to deteriorate and flake off due to the moisture that accumulated inside the tire. The flaking eventually spread to the bead surface and wouldn't allow the tire to fully seat on the bead.
We ended up replacing all four factory wheels with aftermarket polished aluminum wheels in order to eliminate the problem.
will do......should look a little like this.....cool. remember, pics when you get them on though
