My 727 is slipping more and more, and I have another I'm going to build to put in the barracuda. It runs mid 8s in the 1/8 with the slipping tranny, 400, purple shaft .509 cam, torker intake, 3.91 gears, 26" tall tires.

I'm thinking this thing should run high 7s, with a solid tranny. I don't plan on much faster than this anytime in the near future, and want to build a stout tranny without going overboard.

Is it excessive for my needs to use racing clutches, racing bands (not kevlar), a 4.2 lever, and bolt-in sprag? I was also wondering if the rear support with bearing is necessary. I drive it to the track, and around town, and have the Transgo TF-2 shift kit in it.

What are some suggestions for this tranny build? I'll also be getting rid of the crappy B&M converter and go with a coan or dynamic.

If youre gonna race it Definitely go with a bolt in sprag. There was a thread a while back on exploding trannys that you should look up as it will answer a lot of your questions
