Is it feasible to run a hot enough cam to bleed off some compression while still being able to use 3.23 gears?

If not, what is the highest (numericaly lower) gear I can consider?

I am trying ensure that I will be able to run 92 octane on 10.5 compression with iron magnum heads and .040 of quench on some forged flattops.

EDIT: The engine is a magnum 5.9, hyd roller.

10.5 is a little high comp for pump gas 9.5-10 is safer comp on pump gas, not sure if cam will take a little comp away your heads will affect comp more than anything not 100% sure on your question tho

The problem you will run into will be a severe loss of bottom end torque with a big cam and 3.23 gears.

Get your dynamic CR at 8:1 or less and you will be alright on 92

I forgot to mention that I would be running a 215/60 r 15 tire. Dont know what the diameter is on that.

But that was what I was afraid off. Too much loss of bottom end and the tall gears. Also forgot to mention that I will be running a low first gear 904.

I could move up to 3.55, and they do make a 3.73 for the 8.25 diff.

You've been given good guidelines. How you use it is up to you.

Is the engine already built?
No point of running that high of CR
