I finally had a chance to check the compression psi on my unknown 340.
Unknown Fairly mild cam
Cold engine
No squirt of oil
Minimum 8 rotations
Cyl:
1 167
3 172
5 165
7 167
Cyl:
2 180
4 175
6 180
8 165

What is your opinion.
Thanks

looks good, I bet a valve job would even it up a little.

Decent. The higher numbers may have carbon buildup in the cylinders.

Looks very good to me. Fire it up and bring it operating temp. Let it cool a bit, and then do another....both dry and wet. I see no problem with those numbers however.

thanks I have the tear down in progress, I have quite a few things that I am replacing and upgrading so doing the test over is not going to happen for a while.
