Considering diy door panels?

Has anyone done diy interior? What material are you using?
I have original panels to make templates, but they are delaminating.
 
I made new boards for my 69 Barracuda front door panels using the old ones as templates using masonite. I used spray glue to adhere the vinyl to the new boards. They turned out great.

i used masonite and covered them in a spray glue, then stretched fake leather over the masonite on my truck.
 
I like the idea of using whiteboard material. Wideboard part facing into the door to resist moisture. Seems legit.
 
Joann fabrics has a bunch of different leather look vinyls you can use as well. Typically fabric prices are per linear foot. As in 1 foot by roll width. Use good spray glue otherwise it wont hold for very long. 3M is pretty much the best.
 
I made a set using 1/8 black vinyl. Life time material. That is my son 30 years ago . Working together starting at that age made him who he is.

Awesome job . Looks factory. My son is helping me in the shop too. Started around age 6 with him.
 
Just wondering if anyone knows what Gary Ball does for his panels? He has been the go to guy for Early B body super stock stuff for ever. He has it perfected I am sure.
I want the stitching in the vinyl or to be able to use heat for that if possible.
I have some Early B cars 2 and 4 door cars, and my wife's 62 Lancer, I will have to try making mine when the time comes.
 
We made mine from luan 1/8 plywood. So far, they are turning out good.
 
For you guys who are making (or have made) your own panels: How are you attaching them to the doors? Since the original clips are sandwiched between two layers of board, I'm trying to decide how best to deal with mounting. Thx!
 
OLDMANMOPAR your panels are beautiful!!!! I make ABS door panels for 60's lincolns, I use .125 ABS and cut it on my DIY CNC and DIY vacuum former . Plus a few other things for the lincolns like back panels and trunk wheel well smother pieces along and porche 911 door pockets. along with my kick panels and convertible pieces.

I attached mine with a few self drilling screws. I got no problem with that since Vixen is a driver.

Just like RRR said - trim/sheet metal screws work great. Here are a few ideas.

I prefer the self drilling screws with the drill bit on the end. They work really well.

What was that on? I have never in my life seen that. Mine had rectangular holes around the perimeter of the panel on three sides, with the spring clips slid into the holes and just slid over the board. Then the original panel cover right over them. That's the only way I've ever seen it. I actually did that to mine and installed the clips, but they were bein a double barrel bastard, so I removed them all and used self drilling screws. Just like these.
