console conversion

for those that have converted from an auto to a 4 speed in a A body,

what is the difference between a auto and manual center console?
basically, can a auto console be changed to a manual unit by fitting a shifter boot to it?

No. I'm pretty sure the top plates are the difference. I have both for mine and the cut-out for the 4 spd is the difference.

I don't know how they sit on the floor but I would think that maybe the bottom left edge is cut different depending on whether or not the larger 4-speed hump is there?

using a top manual top plate on the lower section that was from my auto console, I agree the lower left side would need to be contoured to fit the hump,
one other issue is one would need to come up with the hardware that mounts the boot, and the boot, are those available anywhere?
