Cool vintage documentary on building CN Tower

Interesting, scary for the men working on it that high.

Hope they get paid well.

We visited the tower in’82-83 the first time. I had already been to the top of the World Trade Center, Washington monument, and Statue of Liberty by 12 years old but the rotating top made CN stand out for me. Of course we were living in Farmersville NY and I remember being excited about anytime we were in Buffalo or Toronto!

Dad took us out for dinner in the restaurant shortly after it opened. There was a table that had to leave as the guy was getting queasy lol. Restaurant rotated  I can't remember if floor was glass or that was another part of tower.

In the 80's I was working at an industrial supply company. I got a call from a guy who wanted a set of restaurant wheels. I had no idea what he was talking about. It turns out that one of the companies we had bought designed and made the components for some of the revolving restaurants in Canada. I believe it was driven by a 1/2 or 1 1/2 hp gear motor. The wheels were steel with some kind of rubber or urethane cover if I remember correctly.
