Cops and cruise night

-
I guess that I am lucky because my neighbor is the chief of police. LOL. He has never said anything to me about my dart or my other project cars. He once caught me pulling in after a tuning run in dart with no windshield, seat belts or lights. He just gave me the thumbs up and said "sounds good".

I've only ever had 3 times I've been in touch with police. Not one pleasant.

#1: I was falsely accused of vandalizing an earl's, and instead of reviewing security tapes, they just came to my house and kept telling me to pay up, and that I must have done it, otherwise how would they have my license plate? (I was at the McDonald's that night which shares a parking lot). They continued accusing me (NOT investigating, only accusing) and finally I told them to go review the tapes and I wouldn't speak with them anymore unless my lawyer was present and I could speak to the accuser. They never came back.

#2: I called the police because I came home one night and a group of about 20 people surrounded my car so I left and called the police. They told me they'd meet me nearby in 20 minutes. They showed up at 8am (10 hours after I called).

#3: I saw a man literally throw a <5 year old child into a car and continue to beat him. We yelled at him to stop and called the police. The police flat out told me they wouldn't come and to call child and family services. CFS said they wouldn't come because it was at a McDonald's, and they were a non-emergency line, blah blah. I guess no one even cares about a child's safety anymore, and it's up to the 2 teenagers who find a bear of a man viciously attacking a child to stop him.

Winnipeg Police are the reason I plan to leave this crumby town the moment I'm done school and on track with a career. Well, Winnipeg police and the poor state of downtown.

At One Time It Was Serve & Protect, Now It Is All About Making Money...

I'm not sure what booting Katzy would do, if Judy Waleclecleclea-Leis or whatever her name is got in, her left-wingin philosophy would probably shut down the use of "personalized" transportation in favor of the eco-buses she wants lol.

My brother works at MPI, and he agrees they are behind this crap.

I got a call from the police when I was college student who ate at the same Burger King at least once a day... every day. It was right next to my apartment complex and I hated to cook.

The cop said I was being accused of breaking their front door. Thing is I never went inside to eat. I always went through the drive through and ate in the car, or brought it home.

I was told I had a choice. Pay $80 to fix the door, or come down to the station to get fingerprinted and booked. They gave me a day to decide. I called a lawyer who said pay the $80 because it will cost much more to fight it.

I went to BK with my $80 in hand. I told the manager that he had a choice. I could continue being their customer and spend about $300 a month at his store, or I would give him the $80 and he would never see me again. He wanted the money and I never ate at that BK again.

Have you EVER seen a BK close down?? Well this one did. No ****.. It's now a "Chuy's" Mexican restaurant!!

From what I read in the paper today, the Winnipeg Police are bringing our province's insurer ( We only have one choice in Manitoba ) with them, and the MAnitoba Public Insurance Vehicle inspectors are doing the inspections.

It would seem to make more sense for them to offer a FREE "NO Ticket" Inspection available for any of us who have modified older vehicles to run them thru an inspection and be able to make any required repairs without getting a ticket for it.

I have no problem paying for any repairs/changes I have to make to make sure I DO NOT get a ticket. A ticket is a total waste of cash.. Cash I would rather put into my car directly.

And I was a Canadian Policeman for 17 years, 5 of them in a traffic section. Wrote a lot of speeding tickets / seatbelt tickets.. but never Chicken Sh@#t tickets for equipment issues.. Verbal warnings, check out the cars and let em go.

Police should go after the guys that are racing, driving cars that clearly do not meet safety standards IE major chunks of body missing in the passenger compartments, faulty brakes, etc, or those driving like idiots where there are numerous pedestrians LIKE OUR CHILDREN Present.

I never felt bad giving out speeding tickets in school zones.

Ken

Ken I had no idea you were an officer. I have afew friends who are officers, and one came by two weeks ago for a visit. i shared with him the story of the officer ticketing for no washer fluid and he couldn't believe it. This guy is in the thick of things in the north end and does not deal with bullshit tickets. He was disgusted with the story. I told him we can all thank the Chief of Police, because he said last year they were going to start pushing the tickets for everything...apparently he felt the ticket quotas were down. What an AS$%&*^!!........

Can't catch you if your faster! Get to it! oh.......wait...........you can't outrun radios, nevermind. I'd say go to the police station and ask the cop on duty for civilian or court duty about what the deal is. May be some ricers or even nicer cars drag racing in the streets you don't know about and there trying to send a message, can't think of why else they would be so ridiculous, bet they wouldnt do it if you were raising money for them :)
