I was getting tired of places to put my cordless tools, and then I came across RSnyder's post where he had his cordless tools on a nice shelf and then I decided to make one myself. I figured I'd share this to give people some ideas.. It cost about $40 to make.

Ignore the mess in the shop... I'm in the process of redoing it all

That is sweet, I use the crap out of my cordless tools.
 
That's really nice......but me being the anti carpenter I am........I would mutilate myself all to hell tryin to make that. We'd have a frikkin bonfire that night.

Nice job! We have a 36v Dewalt drill at work...I would love to say Im gonna get one, but Im scared to price it!! Whats on the outside on the right hand side?? (abv the handle for the hammer drill)

Yeah I bet that 36v drill is pricey!! Lowes has a sale on some of the 18v Dewalt tools (tool only for $98 ) so I got the reciprocating saw, 1/4" impact driver and chop saw, so that's why I built this, because they didn't come with cases. I prefer to have them easily accessible anyway. Yes that's the handle for the hammer drill. I also made spots in the bottom shelf for the reciprocating saw blades.

Haha! I'm no carpenter either, but it was pretty simple to build.
 
Very nice.... I like it! I'm glad I could inspire! This looks like a display at Lowes! I like the angled approach.. for it reduces the overall depth! Nice Job! :prayer:

I too have a "corded" saws-all... but didn't think to incorporate this into my shelving system.. Maybe this weekend.

Lets put it like this. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best carpenter, I am a negative 10. I even have a compound miter saw, yet still manage to cut wood short and at the wrong angles. There's just no help.
 
most of mine spent most of there time in a tool bag in the tool box on my truck now they are in a drawer in my tool box. i like that it is a really good idea

I picked up a tip from one of the woodworking magazines that I use to keep all of my batteries charged. Since I have multiple brands of cordless tools, I also have multiple chargers. It's really annoying when I need a tool and the battery isn't charged or fully charged. I don't want to keep them plugged in 24/7 because it draws current when you don't need it and I'm cheap.
Anyway, I plug all of my different chargers into a power bar and plug that into a timer. The timer turns on for an hour every night and when I need the tools, the batteries are always ready.

not often do I see a masterpiece, but that qualifies for sure....
I have the same dewalt kit and now something else on my honey do list...
 
Thanks guys for all the comments! I hope it gives ideas on how to store your tools. Now I'm on to making more shadow boards.. I hate doing them, but I also hate looking for tools or losing them.
 
I am with Rob on this one. Me + woodwork = disaster

nice setup though. and WHAT messy shop?
