Hello FABO, can someone tell me the correct throttle cable length for my 73 Duster with a 340, much appreciated....Rich

There are 3 lengths. The longest is for a slant 6. The shortest is for a stock 340, I used the 318 cable with a tall intake its a little longer thena 340 and is not stretched to reach. You can use a 318 on a 340 but not a 340 on a 318 2bbl it will be to short. Here is a 318 cable the 340 would not fit. I have all 3 but I never measured I can tell by looking at them.

There has always been a lot of talk about the length of the cables.
In 68-72 the 318 and 340 used the same cable as per the parts book.

I have the same cable on both my 67-273.2 and my 67 340.4
On both the stock 273-2 and the stock 340-4 the distance from the clamp to the carburetor is the same, the carb throttle travel is the same.
In 68 they changed the length from the 67 cable (probably because it needed to be an inch longer).

More important than the overall length is the travel or the cable length from the clamp to the carb.

Again all this is with stock intakes and throttle brackets (67-73)

The intake may play a role as well,(hi-rise vs stock) I have a few used ones and even a new repop and they all seem slightly different lengths. Frustrating.
