I just learned that people are counterfeiting sparkplugs. I ordered 4 sets off ebay. I guess that should have or could have been a first clue but never even thought about fake plugs. Mine are either real good copies or they are real. Anyone else ever dealt with this? I may send them back just because.

Been staring at mine. The boxes are different almost not noticeable. You'd never know if they were not side by side. Very minimal differences in color and the print on the plugs is darker than the ones from autozone. Actually going by the you tube video I just watched my autozone plugs could be the fakes. I don't know...frustrating. I'd post some pics but I can't get the lighting right to show the difference.

Funny how nobody complains about women with fake boobs... :p :p

This is just one of the many reasons that I don't buy on line. I think it's faster to go to the local parts store and get what I need. You may get things cheaper but if you have to return it then you're that much farther behind. And last I believe in supporting my local business and help folks to have a job. I don't use self check out or bank online.
I'm glad you are such a model citizen... I was buying from Autozone because they had the best prices and a few places had to order them. 3.69 a plug one day 7.29 a plug the next. I don't think so.

What you pay online
They were 3.93 a piece. I saw the price hike at the local Autozone and thought man I need to see what I can find. They showed up and looked good. In my internet travels I stumbled across counterfeiting and thought no F'n way lol. Sure enough it's a big enough issue that NGK has a write up about it.

$3.93 isn't to bad.

Yes, some plugs I got off Amazon were fakes. Real expensive $14+ a plug NGK iridium zmr type motorcycle plugs. Of course I didn't realize it until it fouled out waaaay before it should have. I'll never buy plugs online again, unless from a genuine auto parts dealer. Even then I don't know.
I have a set of "KKK" branded plugs that came with a carb tune up kit for a Harley. Chromed on the electrode and the threads. Good for lol's

One of these ngk is the fake, guess which one

Maybe I'm to old school, but I prefer to see the product I'm getting

Skinny pretty young lady used to work at Sears with me. She got a rack installed and was the happiest I'd ever seen her.
Then again I like power adders lol

One on left is fake?

Yes, the left is the fake. And it's a really really good fake. It lasted maybe 50 miles on the bike whereas the right one is the original from 2006 and still works perfectly.

I'll guess both. I've read the lettering should be centered on the porcelain. Can't tell if it's centered for sure on the right one.
Exactly, the lettering is the only clue. And the fouling but you can't see that from my crappy pic
