EDIT: Im sorry to laugh about that, it is kinda horrible but I see my relationship being there soon.
 
The '**** all over the house' argument is hard to overcome...I was relegated to the basement and garage...then further downsized to 25% of the basement and half the garage. It's ok that I have 13 guitars in the shared 'music corner' because she has 2 drum kits...
 
Well, luckily I may be able to keep it. It doesn't really match my engine bay though... I think this would be a great piece for a turbo car actually. Or something silver or any other color than copper I'd imagine. I'm still not done and haven't worked on it in several days. After I'm done with this one I'll but another one and maybe make it 1940s army style.... hmmm. But what would this be worth is the question?
 
More work on hair. I wanted it to flow out towards where the back of the car would be. I don't know if I'll leave her hair black though. Time will tell.

And as promised. Japanese flags. Well, the first two coats for them at least...

 
This is very cool, it really fits this era of car too... I always liken Muscle cars of the 60s and 70s to warbirds of the 1940s... Nose art is very cool and you have obvious talent...

The thing with me is I have to be told to stop a project or I keep adding to it. I agree a nice metal plate look like the first photo is cool, but I've made a lot of plain plating with airbrush, and I just wanted to try to take it a step further. I use 1shot when doing sign work and wanted to try it out for artwork. I do respect your opinion though.
 
Keep at it. As a former art student and Pro, never stop.
While you lack talent, you do not lack ideas. Keep at it. I mearly suggested you should have stopped when less was better.

Becoming good, at ANYTHING, requires time filled with practice. I used to deadacate endless hours behind my drafting table doing faces, animals, album covers on paper, denim jackets, pant legs, refrigerators, yes, refrigerators!
I did the Dead's "Oxamoxa" I think it is spelled. Hey, I got paid! Why he wanted it is beyond me besides loving the band, but I guess that is good enough.

Try an air brush. There in expensive and fun to use. Invest in some tape to create sharp lines.

This is my first time really trying to do anything with a brush. Besides foam letters and such I have never painted like this. I already know a bit with the airbrush and I'm still learning. I picked this up from a guy who painted signs for 30+ years and is an awesome artist. He is teaching me what he knows with a brush. Before I met him I never cleaned brushes - lets say that much.

I'm trying it out and having a lot of fun in the process. Originally I hated color. I started doing black and white pencil drawings, and the second I added color I thougt I should never have done that. I am trying to branch out. No doubt you have many years on me, as does my mentor, and I'm learning. But I know what you're saying. Don't worry.:smile:

Also, I have no idea why anyone would want an album with a falic skeleton painted on anything.

Here's one I'm currently airbrushing, the rivets are on the mask with a pen, but under the piece. This is about 2" high (very tiny) and on a radio. The mask is still on in the pic and I'm not done. I have done more work on it since this picture, and trying to find those pictures.

I'm glad your taking opinions with a grain of salt and with a fine coat of oil to let it roll off your back like rain on a duck. Keep it up!
 
Very cool! It reminds me how much I want to start my other project idea. I want to take a car to bare metal and add the rivets then clear coat so it will look like the old fighter style. But that project is along way off thanks for the eye candy in the meantime lol

I know this isn't how you meant this statement because I had to read it several times to figure out the true tone of how you would say it.

He might lack talent, but clearly he has talent. These pictures I'm seeing, I can't even dream of ever drawing anything like that. EVER.

I knew what he meant. A lot of artists are like that. He's just telling it like it is. If he said it was awesome, then why would I try to get better? I'd think I mastered it. It means a lot to hear your works sucks from a pro. It's weird like that. Hard to explain. It'd be different if he told me to quit. :D

If you clean the paint off of it and the oil, or at least just the oil, then pay for shipping to and from + some kind of donation to help me get more brushes in my collection, I will paint it. I will not charge you anything else for it since I'm still practicing with stuff like this. Just let me know what it is you want on it, and I'll let you know if I have the artistic know-how to do it. And make sure you have another VC to use in the process because it may take me a while. . I'll also welcome someone to send me an aircleaner lid, I have lots of ideas for those.

Or, if I really get into it, maybe it will be a swap system, where someone takes the one I just made, and in return sends me theirs, and then that will go to the next person... etc. That way I will always have something to do. I'd have to start charging though eventually to keep me motivated. I'll sign and number them and see how many wind up in the world.
 
Very clever. Slant owners are cooler than the cookie-cutter SBC w/ Edelbrock hoards you see at car shows.

I would like to see if you could put a 240B maching gun on each pointing towards the front...and I would be happy to make a donation 'supplys arent cheap or free'
I can supply pics if needed, I carried one for 4 years before moving up to the M2.50

PM sent. If this is what you're talking about, I can't wait... so many ideas. If you let me run with it I can have a naked girl holding it just right so it covers everything up. Unless you just want the two guns themselves pointing forward, and I'll have to know what the background is going to be. PM me some more info.

I'm also an experienced artist and illustrator of 20+ years and I think you are doing a fine job. See if the guy that is teaching you things knows how to do a Graphite transfer using tracing paper. You trace your image of whatever you want and scribble graphite from a soft pencil on the back of the tracing paper. Then tape it to whatever you want the image on and trace over the front of the paper with your drawing and it gives you a carbon copy of your drawing on the surface you taped it too. It is so easy and cheap.
Airbrushing is a real pain, I used to do it in the 80s. T-shirts etc. Those things always clog and you end up throwing them across the room. If you can do everything with a brush, do it.

He has never shown me that carbon copy thing. I will ask him about it. He's got a catalogue of cleaning rods to clean out his airbrushes and he has had the same set of brushes for over 15 years. I don't know how he's that perfect with his stuff, but I guess it's possible. I have had airbrushes clog on me, then they shoot giant globs of paint and then you throw them. haha. I know how it is.
 
Would you be offended if I stole the rivet idea for the slant in my rat truck? I think it would be a perfect kinda industrial theme which is what I sorta wanted. Since I am having to sell my Hemi, I am just gonna sling a mild slant in the truck now.
 
thats the beast that I carried for the first 4 years in the Army...
you can run with it, no issues with that.... dont forget the brass and linked ammo..lol
