hoping some of the bike gurus here can help. if kickstarting a cr500 isnt hard enough, my kickstarter likes to slip and i end up bruising the hell out of my shin. i plan on fixing this saturday. can anyone help me with a list of parts i'll need?

Generally a kickstart will have a gear that rides on the kickstart shaft and it is spring loaded. When the kickstart is kicked, it gets cammed down to engage with the gear on the clutch basket. This, of course, is generalization and you'll need to take that sucker apart to find the true cause of the problem. It could be the gear itself, the camming mechanism to a busted spring boss which would entail a new case. You will need a new gasket and it never hurts to change out the seal if you have it apart already anyway.

BTW, those are bad *** bikes. Explosive power. :)

Agreed. I own one.

Head over to bikebandit.com and you can see exploded views of their fiche.

P.S. wear a dirt riding boot on your right foot.

Please wear a boot. I am sure you don't need to hear that. I did however wear a hole in the bottom of my foot from kicking an 84 CR500 over again......and again.......and again.

Ramcharger has it spelled out. Try that.
