I got my Scat crank today. When I unboxed it, I was surprised to find that there was no support in the middle to prevent sag. Just some styrifoam end supports encased around a cardboard box. I was always told to NEVER lay a crank on its side. Is this just a myth?

Sorry for such a big pick

No never store a crank on it's side. I hang my cranks in the air (ok about 5" off the ground) that way they won't sag

I've always heard that admonition too but have never actually seen a problem with a crank warping from poor storage. I'm sure a short shipping ride in a box won't be a problem.
