I am ready to swap a crate 360/300HP into my/6 Duster. My questions are #1. Who has the best price on a crate engine? #2. What is really required to make the swap? I would like to hear from someone who already did this swap just to make sure there are no surprises. I only have $6000, if all the extras make the crate to expensive I will probably just go with a 318...... this is a daily driver so I only want to go to the 300HP crate. I am going to have an automatic tranny and A/C. Any help you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated.

I got my 380/360 from westoaks in cal.
they had the best price at the time - 3495.00, were on the west coast for cheaper shipping (i'm in honolulu), and their service was top notch.
my original /6 car was converted to a 340/904 auto car with a '75 dart v-8 k-member by previous owner so i can't really help with the other stuff. total price for crate to my doorstep-4105.00

Thanks for the reply. Thats about the price I am finding after lots of surfing the web. One of my big concerns is the pulleys, accessory brackets, throttle brackets, etc. Do you think the older junkyard stuff will fit the new magnum crate engines? I am ready to go "shopping" but don't want to get the wrong stuff. I cant afford the pulleys and brackets they sell in Year One or other restoration catalogs.
Curious, what headers, carb, and transmission are you running?

Call Dave Smith Motors in Idaho.Ask for Joe LeGault. He will beat anyones price on a crate motor. If you don't have a v8 K member, just get the mounts from Schumacher.Pulleys & brackets can be used from most 360's.Find a Dakota in the bone yard.TTi makes the best headers far & away. They're not cheap, but worth the money.Motor comes with elec.distributor & water pump. You'll need the Altenator, carb wires & hoses, throttle brkt, ect. You will be SO glad you did this.

Its going to be hard with a $6000 budget. The price of the carte motors went up when they switched to the Magnum R/T heads. Do you have a tranny to use ?.

Summit list the 360, 320hp (no more 300hp motor) at $3899 and its on back order like everything else Mopar Perf. makes. Figure $200 to ship.

19duster74, make sure you have enough left for things like the transmission, rear end upgrade, suspension, brake upgrade, cooling and exhaust improvements. Installing a 360 crate in a slant 6 car will certainly leave a lot of areas that will need attention.

Thanks for the info. I do not have a tranny yet, I was looking at a TCI "sizzler" seems like a good price from Summit. Know anyone that is using one? My brother has several 67-69 darts and I was kindof ASSuming that I can use some of the brackets and pulleys from them? He has mostly 273/318 parts. I will also keep Dave Smith Motors in mind. I was looking at the TransDapt conversion mounts, about $100 cheaper than the Schumacher ones but do they fit/work?
I am going to pry the money out of my wifes hand in a couple weeks, probably the hardest part of the whole project!!! I actually walked out of a local Casino with $16,000 of their money recently so I can probably get a little more $$ to work with. If my wife had not been with me I would be talking new Hemi crate......... go figure.
