Crossmember cutout for duals 65 4-speed

I'm considering making the cutout the same on the passenger side of the crossmember just like the driver side to allow room for dual exhaust. There are a pair of holes that will be cut away, anybody know what they are for? It's on a 65 Barracuda 273 a833 4spd. Thanks.

Why do you have to cut the crossmember at all. Ive been running duals on my 66 Dart GT 4 speed for 40 years no cutout crossmember.

The holes serve no real purpose that I'm aware of. I've cut them out on my cars and it works great.
