While he was doing that, I was prepping and painting the inside of the doors. We went with a black metallic that will carry back to basically all the trim on the car, and the dash. We are finishing it off with a matte clear coat. Here are the doors after everything is done.

Nice work by son on air breather. Really dig your low buck door stand, great idea. Can you show a full picture of it

Here it is in all its glory. We put the doors over the uprights and use that cross beam to secure them in place. All the stress is on the inner door. Truth be told, the uprights are probably too tall by an inch. It’s a bit of a trick to get the doors off, but it is manageable with 1 person. All the wood is scrap wood we had lying around and the frame from my first wood and plastic spray booth. The centers are red oak from steel pallets at work.

Last night wasnt our most productive, but it did see me get one of my big items off my list. I was able to solder the broken links on the grille. Aside from one spot where I still have to replace the link altogether, the grille is now solid. I cant tell you how much that stressed me out. No pictures yet... just wanted to make note that the grille has been (mostly) repaired.

Nothing like soldering thin old metal. Can't wait to see pictures. Please before smoothing out solder joints

I repaired mine from behind. So I can give you pictures of unsmoothed. I wont be smoothing it due to its on the back and not a show car.

here's a close up of the black metallic with a matte clear coat that we used on the inside of the doors. Looks good in the sun.

I found this knife in the lost and found at work - was there 3 years. it had a camo hydro-dip finish on it. I took it apart, sand blasted it, and primed it with epoxy. We used the black metallic with the gloss metallic we are using on the body panels. It came out well. I gave it to my son for his birthday.

We've started working on the trim. We arent getting fancy with it... just cleaning it, a little hammer work to straighten it out, then epoxy primer/black metallic/matte clearcoat. here's a few of the pieces we have done so far...

We are adding fender turn indicators to the car. Dad likes them, and his original had them. I have a set that has seen better days, so I sand blasted them to get the chrome off, and used Muggy Weld Supper Alloy 1 to fill the pits. They look good. Will have them in epoxy soon.

Did color and clear coat on the doors a week or so back. Came out very nicely. Some orange peel and a couple sags, but very little if any debris in the clear. Happy.

And I think we are all caught up. We have been reworking the fenders and trying to straighten out the body lines. I think the results are excellent. We finished that work tonight and capped it with epoxy primer. I have photos, just not available yet. We also painted some more trim and the grille. Figured out I was missing one of the 3 brackets that go between the grille and the radiator support (dont think we ever had it). Hopefully I can find one.

Pictures of the finished fender bodywork. I redid both fenders at least twice before I pulled my head out of... well, started listening to people who knew better than I did. They arent perfect, but they are close enough.
