Dad's 69 'Cuda Fastback...Where in the world is it?

-
Persistance certainly pays off in this area...I am one of those lucky people. A little bit of my story...my dad bought a brand new 1974 Charger SE Brogham 400 BB/727/8-3/4 back in '74, but sold it in 79/80 because it wasn't really a "family oriented" car for our family at the time. Me being a car guy my whole life, I used to spend hours on my bike alley shopping for any old cars sitting in back yards (where i also found and bought my current 1973 duster which i have had since 15). About 4-5 blocks from my house, there was this guy who had (4) 1974 chargers, and one was red / black like my old' mans so i was supprised. I went home and snagged the VIN off of the original bill of sale, which is the only thing left of the car my dad had, and matched it and it was his car. I left a note on the winfshield and nothing. 4 years later the guy called me and was finally willing to sell. i lost his number about 3 years ago, but found it last month, called, and he said he has been saving it for me because i said i wanted it. VERY long story short...I am picking it up this weekend...along with a trailer full of parts, motors, tranny's and a lot of other gear.
My dad wasn't a huge car guy...but thats all he talks about when the topic of cars comes up...how he used to race his charger and how nice of a car it was. So ya...don't give up! your time will come!

It is red, Black vinyl roof, factory deluxe interior and crank sunroof.

Yikes...the world just keeps getting smaller. Thanks for talking to your friend.....Carpet One...that sounds really familiar, like I should know the name. He probably recognized the Sidoti name as well.

I live in Euclid now, but sometimes when I'm out in the Madison area, I'm reminded of how things change, yet remain the same. And how sometimes, you run into someone who you think is a stranger, but remembers you from when you were 8. go figure.

If I got a call about my hot rod out of the blue, I don't think I would want to sell it either. But sometimes, it's just about planting a seed, and hoping. the current owner (who's located in Perry) has 2 other cars ready for restoration (and tried to sell dad's a couple years ago to move on to the restorations, but the deal just didn't work out), I think it's only a matter of time and patience...and if his son actually wants to buy it. (the world gets really small here. his son used to work with my mom. my brother bought his first car from this guy's son. His daughter's name is Carrie Anne, and yeah, he remembered that he bought the car from my dad)

If I may suggest......

Play on his sympathy. Call him up and ask if he would BRING THE CAR over for your dad to see. Offer to pay for his gas etc. Maybe, MAYBE he would do it, and once there decide you SHOULD HAVE the car back.

I suppose I'm a bad person for suggesting you USE your dad like that. BUT..... I think in this case the means would justify the ends.

i know...i was suprised as hell he remembered me...and he remembered my duster i was driving also. I am pumped tosee the ole' girl..I will try and post pics next week after i get her home....but i have one question...HOW DO YOU POST PICS ON THIS THING!!??

Hit "Go Advanced" then scroll down to "Manage Attachments"

That's how I like to do it.

if you select "post reply" instead of the quick reply window at the bottom, or when you hit "go advanced" at the bottom of the quick reply window....you can click on the paperclip on the top line of icons (by the font options and smilies)...it'll automatically take you to the upload manager. beware though - pics have to be pretty small in size (there's a nice chart at the bottom of the upload manager that tells you how big a particular file size can be).

yeah, yeah. i'm a geek. a girl geek. who likes to play with cars. (my boyfriend loves it - we had a great time building his cobra engine - from scratch!)

great...finally figured it. Thanks for the tips!!! and ya....yur BF is a lucky guy. every time one of my many gf's touched my car, it meant more work for me!!

Congrats on finding your dads old barracuda! I would love to find my dads 69 superbee or my moms 71 demon. Hopefully one day you will be able to buy it back.

I know it is a B-Body.....but here is the charger i just picked up. My old' man was the original owner and sold it in '78....it is now my next project....shoulda seen how suprised he was when he saw it sitting out front of the house! haha
