My 904 is in the back of my Cherokee right now, about to be hauled up to the transmission shop. I was just reviewing the previous thread where this forum gave some great advice on what to ask for when talking to the shop...and went off to order up some more parts. While I was pricing out torque converters, I stopped by to see what my money would get me for an off the shelf 904 and I found that Summit has a few offerings, including one from Performance Automatic that seems to contain all of the components that you guys suggested plus a deep sump pan...for a bit less than what the local shop guessed that the rebuild would cost.
Plus, the shop made the price estimate contingent on the condition of my transmission coming into the shop...and I have no idea what they might find in there.
Has anyone weighed these options before? What did you do?
Is this unit lacking for anything that the local shop would be able to do for me?
