I have searched high and low in my area for an 8 3/4 rearend for my 67 notchback and have found nothing, not even at the junkyards. So, my brother is restoring a 72 GMC pickup and told me if I want it I can have the dana 60 rear out of it. I know I will need to have it narrowed, new axles, brakes, etc. but is this a route I should go since it is free? What do I do about the pinion snubber since this rear doesn't have one? I figured maybe if I could make it work I could have a bulletproof rear. Any opinons on this, not sure whether to go this route or not.

Contact Dr Diff and see if you would really be saving any money.

If you install Caltracs you do not need a snubber.

Why would you need a door stop, I mean, a pinion snubber. :)

Get the rear from your brothers truck. If it already has a posi/SG in it, you may only need to change side gears to get a better spine set up.

I`ve got a complete a body 8 3/4 out of my 68 f-b barracuda, has extensions welded on the spring pads so it can be used w/ 3/4" offset spring hangars, or stock, either way 391 sure grip, the whole thing is cleaned up and in the car, small bolt pattern axles and brakes not installed, all form. S stuff. brakes haven`t been rebuilt yet. I`m going to adana 60 for my h.p. level. p m me if your interested w/ an offer. shipping is around $200 + or -, WAS $229 ON THE DANA. BOB

If you have to buy gears for the 60 then it is not a good deal. I have a 8.75 and love it. Ran it with 4.30's and now 3.23's. 60's are heavy. if the gears are the correct ratio than it may be a good deal. You will geat tired real quick with 3.91 or lower.
