Anyone know how to identify a dana 60 rear end. Just wondered what this thing came out of. I just picked it up off craigslist for $20 and plan to narrow it and put it in my 65 Cuda after a rebuild.

I'll get some pics up tommorrow but I thought you could I.D. the rear end by stampings but what do I know this is my first Dana 60

Here's one. Yours probably wont have the doubler plate. Note, near the bottom/right, there is a "60" cast into the housing.

lol I grabbed one out of a 68 international pickup for free. 4.56 gears and beefy axle tubes.

They can be had in the $100 range, with (nice) 3.54 or 3.73 gears, and sometimes even with the good clutch-type SureGrip (PowerLok/TrackLok for Ford). The expensive part I assume, would be the shortening and adding standard 5 bolt axles and ends.
