Love the site!
Have a general question on my torque converter.
I have a 72 Swinger Special 318 AT PS AC, and AM Radio.
I am building a 340 (72 casting) for it, it will have 9.5 pistons (bored 30 over), 455 lift MP cam, 3.21 sure grip rear in a 8.25 rear, 2.02 intake heads and an Edelbrock airgap intake. I am using 1969 casting 340 manifolds and a TTI 2.5 inch exhaust system. I am using the stock 904 transmission, the transmission has 89k on it and works fine with the stock 318.
Should I replace the torque converter? If so with what?
I know that the 904 might not last too long with this 340, I will be putting in a shift kit and a external trans cooler to keep it alive.
I am running 235/60 15 tires all the way around. I am using the car on the street and take it to the track maybe once a year.
I am building this to have fun with take to work a couple of times a month etc.
