I am restoring a 1970 Dart Swinger 340 (all matching numbers) and I have the build sheet and fender tag. The build sheet shows brakes with code 41 (disk front brakes) and also code 51 (power disk brakes). The mystery is, my front brakes are 10 inch drum brakes and not disk brakes. It appears that these are original since I saw no evidence of disks being removed nor was the previous owner aware of any brake swap from disk to drum. Is it possible that the 1970 Dart Swinger 340 could have come with the drum front brakes? :wack:

It is quite possible, Human error-unavailability of correct parts-etc.
Chrysler built 4 speed HEMI station wagons and four door cars (even though it officially was not possible to order such)

So in your case if the build sheet and fender tag both match and you don't see any obvious signs it was switched then you could leave the drums ( not the best brakes ) or find and install the correct parts if you are restoring the car
to the way it was supposed to be. :salut:

Does any one else have a 1970 Dart Swinger 340 "H" code car that came with power drum brakes instead of the usual disk brakes. I'm trying to find out if this was a rare fluke or if the drum brakes were standard and teh disk brakes optional?
