I would say it's the valve cover gaskets leaking for sure. #5 cylinder spark plug boot is oil stained pretty good.

Yea I'm having a blast and so is my daughter. I started the thread to not only keep track of the progress, show my progrrss, but also so maybe one day when my kids are older I can show it to them and they might get some smiles from it .
I love working in cars, just wish I knew more about this car, I also wish there was a local Mopar guy around town that would be willing to look it over and teach me a little bit haven't found one yet.
Thanks and I'm glad you're enjoying it! If it weren't for a couple of you in here it would be awefully quiet and me talking to/ asking questions to a blank internet wall
Neoprene rubber valve cover gaskets with a steel shim in them work great. They dont dry out like cork either.
got your $$'s worth out of those gaskets

Turn signal switches going bad is pretty common in these cars and are still in stock at the dealership. Check the dash lights by rotating the headlight switch back and forth. Sometimes this cleans up the rheostat and you'll see the lights flicker on. If not, it may the bulbs are all burned out which is also a pretty common problem. I'm still chasing a flasher problem on my own vehicle.
I know you take your family out in this so while cleaning up under hood, I'd get rid of those battery cables with the temporary ends on them. I've seen them fail several times, usually at the most inopertune times. That and getting rid of the universal radiator hose will keep the purists off of your back when you pop the hood. Good luck and keep posting!
Well lucky for him it's not that type of engine.
My motto is: Whatever makes you happy at the time , do it. MAKE IT YOUR OWN. DRIVE AND ENJOY IT. It's not numbers matching, so don't worry about a concours restro. I don't think any posts here were meant in a bad way toward you, just a warning that there are a few purists that will whine about something that's not "right".
It’s funny seeing that car again after nearly 9 years was looking at purchasing that before buying the 67 Dart ,at the time it was selling for 16k had it inspected originally was a 6 and was fitted with a 70 gts 340 with all the goodies wasn’t good lots of rust and motor was blowing smoke so I let it pass and some one else brought it than it was on Mecom for ages for 24k than dropped to 19k and still passed in. Never seen it again after that. Still have the inspection photos on the other lap top.View attachment 1715373991
