Dartin for Divorce

...but at the same time its the principle of the matter. I purchased this new and the plug leaks, kind of frustrating lol.

You're not wrong. I'd be tempted to take the replacement from Edelbrock then turn around and sell it to recoup some $ for your time and frustration!

so you haven't figured out how a thread works?
1: Post problem
2: get lots of good yet conflicting answers
3: OP is advised to buy something new
4: off topic discussion from the first 2 or 3 helpful posters to the next helpful posters about why they're wrong
5: more advice to spend $$

you got a new line, and it came with a new leak, what's the problem?

Your "how a thread" works description has me dying right now.

Haven't you heard, Mopar engines, transmissions and differentials are supposed to leak :D

Oh I know this all to well. All 3 of mine leak lol... a tiny pinhole leak on the differential, through tailshaft housing seal if car is jacked up, and oil from oil plug haha.

This is where I have been trying to help you all along. Maybe its my delivery, not sure. But everything I suggested, you did the complete opposite. I've been in your shoes, and have a bin of O'Reilly bs parts, I thought at the time were cool. I spent more money chasing my tail buying cheap aftermarket box store parts, instead of buying the correct part to begin with.
I appreciate your willingness to learn, and build. But the fuel line I suggested is $20.00 bolt on and go. No leaks, no trips back and forth to Oreillys, no fuss, no matter. One day you will appreciate my help or suggestions, as you have an ice tea and a laugh looking at your bin of O'Reilly Spectra parts.

Ice tea? With booze in it right?

Thats a cool oil filter, where do you get it? And whats the orange thing in the background?

Well new project time...

Time to figure out how to repair the tear in the seam of the back seat, how to get the backs of the front seats to stay on and how to recondition all of the seats. This is the leather cleaners/conditioners I have right now.

It's good stuff to have around though! I fired up my dart after a long winter rest, let it idle while I ran back to the garage to grab something and noticed the gasoline geyser under it.. My fuel fittings at the efi pump had sprung a leak around the pipe threads (that I had taped copiously). Put some of that dope on them and so far so good! Comes highly recommended and is even indicated for use in aviation fuel systems where "good enough" means bomb proof so I have high hopes.

Plus the smell keeps wives out of garages :D
Got a letter the other day from Collectors Auto Insurance, where my dart is insured through, it stated that they will no longer be doing business in the state of Nevada. Now I have to find a new insurance company. My information was passed to Hagerty Insurance and I received a quote from them $116 for the year to insure my car, but that is with my initial 9k value on the car. I want to increase the value but have no clue what the cars value would actually be now.

Any ideas on what I should set the value of my xar at? I was thinking 15-18k? I know it has the rebuilt title but no way I'm getting another clean 69 340 dart with everything I have now for 9k...
Say if you really really want to know your cars value look at Dart project for sale.

Yea I've looked for Darts for sale, they are hard to find and harder to find one in the condition my car is in with the same type of parts it has.

Cleaned my seats today with soap and water, really scrubbed the dirt, grease and grime out of all the seams. Then applied 2 coats of a cream conditioner.

I think in going to try and sew my seam back together and then try a glue/vinyl repair over the top of the seam.

I'm thinking I may be able to fix my door cards and repaint the metal on the doors. I am also going to look for some vinyl wrap for the top of my console and look for a chrome paint to redo some of the chrome in my car.

Also yes... i have some greenish colored seat belts... i think the gts car that the previous owner stripped everything out of was green. It had green paint on the sides of the center console where the carpet goes.

Is your car a original 340 car?

My car is a mutt of a car. Previous owner purchased a 68 gts 340 car that was rusted out and swapped the good stuff into this 69 custom. I swapped the 8.75 from the gts in this car as well and have the 727 transmission from the gts car sitting in my garage. I have to go back to his place one day and pick through the rest of the gts parts he has on his property.

Do you have a 904 in it now?

Yes a 904 in it, @70aarcuda and myself just rebuilt the 904. Chose to stay with the 904 over the 727 due to weight and HP savings you get with the 904. Plus I have a brand new driveshaft that I didnt have to cut and get new joints. So overall it was cheaper as well.

Yes I was going to recommend you keep the 904. Do you have a aux cooler on it?

Chrome paint is always terrible..

Spray Chrome Plating |

Yea I've read this exact sentiment. I'm just trying to get it to look a little better than it currently does, again hold over restore for not a lot of money until I can afford to get it done right...

The window and vinyl trim as well as the bumpers are all chrome or stainless steel?

I also found this thread on FBBO. Console Restoration

Yes sir I do. Lol I have fixed and replaced almost all big things on the car besides paint and body work. Engine, transmission, cooling system, suspension, brakes, wheels, vinyl top etc.

It looks great. The 904 should last a long time if you keep it cool. Heat is a killer.

On the dash that has chrome plating that may have chips out of it you can get chrome fingernail polish and touch it up

I've read this too. Again just want a hold over for everything.

Here you can see the scratches and stuff on the chrome and a couple of spots where its "pitted" but really nothing to severe. On the door I'd like to just do a black paint, I guess SEM black is popular for touching up the chips in the paint in the door.

I've also thought of a black carbon fiber vinyl for some places. Here's another thread Interior dash trim touch up/restore

Called PUI today, as I think my seat covers are PUI and they offer a limited lifetime warranty. He told me to send in some pictures and he would see what he could do about warranty on them if they are PUI seat covers.

I also put some hold super tight JB weld on particle board for the back of the seat since the duct tape wasn't holding it very well. I am pleased to say the its not broken anymore and the sucker is holding nice and tight.

Bought some stuff to try out on fixing and redoing my console... and maybe some other interior pieces...

I feel lost without a big dirty car project to do...

So I've been buffing my car the last 2 days. All the car is buffed and I waxed the hood. I was able to get out a lot of the smaller scratches but not the bigger/deeper scratches. I just used an orbital polisher with a wool bonnet and Meguiars ultimate compound.

Here's some pictures. I'll try to get some in the sun tomorrow.
