Dash / firewall insulation pins

Howdy -

I'm having trouble getting my classic industries correct pins through the firewall. They are the pins that hold in the dash insulation. If I try pulling them through they snap off and when I push thru they just bend. Is there a trick to it?

Soak them in VERY hot water. That will soften the plastic up to install them. Do it quickly before they cool off.
I replaced some emblem retainers on my dart that were hard as a rock. I had to nearly boil the water to get them soft to slide them on the emblem pins.
