Dash gauge problems

if you have a small flat head screwdriver you can unplug the ignition switch and push the little metal piece that holds the wire in the plug. I would do that before clipping the wires if you are worried about it being "stock" if not dont worry red fish's idea sounds like a good one.

also you did put the gas tank sending unit ground strap on right?

Don't care about the stock part and the ground strap is on.
