Can anyone tell me if a 66 Barracuda dash will fit in a 65 Barracuda?Just wondering because I like the style better and want to swap them out if their interchangable.

Yes, they interchange. Seems like the 65 is a lot more difficult to get than the 66 pads.

Thanks for the info I like the dash from the 66 better for the aftermarket guages because they can all fit in the dash and dont have to be mounted somewhere else. Thanks alot! Good news

Thanks, I want to use the entire metal frame and intrument cluster from a 66 in my 65 with new gauges and all redone, should be a fun project in the basement this winter.Your dash is coming along nice, gonna look bad *** when your done, keep pluggin away.

Thanks! Still debating on whether to send out my bezel for re-chroming or doing something else. My wife asked where's the radio gonna go - we gotta have a radio. I would hate to add an antenna to the fender since the wagon was a radio delete. Guess I'll have to figure something out there. By the way, you do know you'll have to pull the windshield to replace the dash?

Ya I know I have to pull the windshield to get at the dash bolts.Whats the easiest way to pull the windshield? Never taken one out before.

big baseball bat?? ;)

Call Safelite pay them to remove/reinstall.

Unless you need to do rust repair or fix leaks around the glass, you might consider defeating the dash bolts from underneath. I haven't done this myself. I understand how it can be done though, thanks to previous posts in this forum.

Hey, guys thanks for the info but its gonna be dissasembled for awhile, just starting my restoration so I think i'll go ahead and try cutting the rubber out first. All the glass will be in storage for awhile. And I plan on replacing all the wheatherstripping anyway.Oh,by the way guys Im from Streamwood,Illinois a suburb of the Chicago area. That looks to be a real solid Valiant cavemanmoron thanks for the pic.

I just pulled the lockstrip and used my foot from the inside on the upper corner, I pushed slowly and had someone watch from the outside. I have done 3 like this, the first 2 at a junkyard to make sure the window wouldnt break, and none did. Did my rear like this too. Once it starts, it comes out pretty easily. Not hard at all, just a little nervewracking. Putting in was almost as easy. Lube up the window channel, lace a pull string in the channel and set the window in. Start one corner and use the pull string to pull the gasket lip over the window. Just go slow. If you over run the string, use little plastic prybars or something pretty strong to get the gasket started again. I used a screwdriver, but went very slowly to get it started again. once it is all in, then you can push the lockstrip back into place, but may want to shoot a little paint on it to get it back to the silver color. Mine was almost black from years of abuse. The hot ticket would be to use a strip of silver mylar and a screen tool to tuck it into the gasket, would look chrome again.

Don't cut the gasket (unless it is cracked badly)-- if it has a lockstrip-- it will come out rather easily--- I've pulled numerous 60-64 valiants & darts--.
pull said lock strip--- you will need some wood or plastic wedges-- I used wood shims from the local home depot.
clean out any goop/sealant where the gasket & glass meet
roll the gasket lip away from the glass with your hands (all the way around)

start in a corner & gently push out the glass
place shim between glass & gasket--

now work your way around the glass---
it will come out easily once you get going

I try to do the top first & then just roll it out of the bottom gasket when the top is loose.

The sun is your friend-- just don't hurry it works , Lawrence

The gasket was pretty dry and cracked, so I just cut it out and the winshield and rear glass came right out nice and easy. Thanks guys for all the help. Got a busy day tommorrow, painting the garage and putting in some 8ft. strip lights and then pressure washing the floor this weekend. Trying to get the garage ready for the winter.
