Like all of us have done my daughter in law was coming back from visiting relations in a town 30 miles away. While coming home my 2.5 year old grandson said something to his mom while they were driving. She looked up in the mirror to see what he wanted. She only took her eyes of the road for a few seconds. On this road there are several gas storage facilities with lots of truck traffic. There were 2 semi's turning into one of the plants in the other lane and a flat bed spraying rig truck was stopped in front of her waiting for the semi's. Since she wasn't concentrating on the road she turned around just in time to hit the brakes. Their surburban did it's job pretty well protecting them. She has a broken bone in her foot, chest brusing and some facial injures nothing to serious. My 4 year grand daughter is fine, her little brother has a broken collar bone from the seat belt and my 2 month old grand daughter is also fine. We feel very fortunate to still have them all. This happened about 4 in the afternoon and we didn't get back home till 11pm. Thank God for seat belts and child/infant seats. Without them I don't think the outcome would have been this good. Luckily we had lots of help taking care of the kids while they were all being examined and treated. The little one was wanting her mom pretty bad since she is breast feeding. We all did the best we could although my left ear caught the worst of it from her crying. Finally I had the nurse bring me some formula to calm her down.
Wow, what a night. Praise the Lord!!!!!!

Thank God they are all going to be OK. WOW that truck is totalled!! Prayers sent for you and yours.

Wow Jeff, they're very lucky to be alive! Looks like a very nasty wreck. All my best to your family for a speedy and thorough recovery.

Wow, glad every one came out of it with minimal injuries.....

...........WOW, that thing is crushed........glad no one was seriously injured, their pretty lucky...............my prayers are sent for a speedy recovery........kim,.............

Glad everyone is ok,well, not too bad. From the looks of that truck I would call that a miracle.

Holy Crap! glad to hear that they came away from that with relatively minor injuries. There's something to be said about full size vehicles. The Suburban did, indeed, do it's job.
Prayers sent for your family, Jeff.

Glad to hear everyone is going to be fine. Hope there isnt going to be longterm effects on the kids or daughter. That truck looks scary!!

Jeff glad that your family is ok, thoughts & prayers sent ,Lawrence

So glad the man upstairs was looking out for them. Truck looks like it was a scary crash to say the least. This is why my 16 yo daughter has a quad cab instead of the mini cooper she wants.

That was a nasty crash for sure. Thank God for minimal injuries and a speedy recovery. toolman

Glad everyone's OK. The $$$ part of it goes on long after the bruises are healed. A lesson learned along with a newer, safer, more efficient vehicle can be considered blessings also.

WOW! Everybody okay & that's with no airbags! Somebody was watching out for them! There's something to be said for big steel. And the govt. wants us to all drive itty bitty cars that get 45 mpg.

Glad everything did its job and no one was hurt worse. That couldda been tragic. ...and in case you're wonderin.......that ain't gonna buff out.

I was soooo relieved when I read your post Jeff, It take's a few seconds for my page to open
God bless you and your families for the good habits using set belts.
That sure could have been worse

Thankfully everyone's bruises will heal...the children are so young they won't remember much if anything.

Proof that miricles happen every day. I've been in some nast wrecks, but never with my kids in the car - that is my biggest fear. I'll pray for a speedy recovery for all involved. It just goes to remind you how precious those little lives are and how easily they could be taken away.

Update: Brandy (mom) doing fine. Went to the dentist yesterday. Looks like she will get a cap on one of her front teeth. She also ended up with a broken bone in her right foot. Doing fine otherwise except for being on crutches and can't hardly do anything. We have relatives and church members coming in to help her. She can't carry anything while on crutches so she needs lots of help.
Lee (oldest granddaughter) Wasn't hurt but is pretty emotional about it.
Dale (grandson) Has broken clavicle but is doing fine. He calls himself a one armed monkey. His arm is in a sling. He doesn't complain about it much at all.
Sarah (2 months old) Doing fine. Just a few small bruises and red marks. She thinks her PAPA is number 1 (me)
Thank You to all that responded. And yes I do believe it's a miracle we still have all of them to spoil. Thats my favorite job and I enjoy doing it.
God Bless.

Just in case everybody didn't know that all the car seats involved in an accident had to be destroyed. So they have all new seats again.

Glad everybody's recoverin. That could have so much worse. So glad it was not.
