Hello Group,
I am Dave from Northern VA, glad to be back with y'all.

With a lot of time on my hands, I have finally completed the 8 3/4 complete axle to axle transplant.
The 74 Swinger 318: runs well with Ede heads, dual plane intake, Ede 600 cfm, headers, 268/272 Mopar bump stick, stock dist, MSD firebox, and a vacuum reserve tank.

The car had it's mech. curve set at 20', with static timing at 13'. All vac. ports on carb are plugged. Vacuum at idle is 14", in gear about 6".

Tach idle is between 800 and 900. In gear its around 600 rpm's.
Vacuum brakes love the reserve tank and non vacuum advance.

I've had to redesign the throttle cable bracket for the aluminum intake height, and move the cable shroud back to firewall 3/4 " to open both rear barrels.

As a street driver, it launches ok, does not spin the rear tires though.

My Question?
I'm using the OEM tranny with it's original convertor. It has a short 1st gear due to rear ratio change to 3:23.
14" rims and 70 width sneakers all around.
I don't wish to 'brake stand' the Dart for fear of breaking parts.

Any thoughts about replacing the convertor, or should the trans be removed and sent to a reputable service?

Originally a 2bbl V-8 LA. Now a 4bbl LA. Maybe I should leave it alone since it scoots fine.

But would like to see the Beaker hook up and smoke -em!

Thanks, will keep my password nearby,
