Define "friend"

Family is different, more on that later.

Some people think a friend is a person that they have met several times.

A friend to me...I would kill or die for that person.

Never been in the military, if that matters.

Therefore I can count my friends on one hand.
Although I have many acquaintances for whom I will help in a heart beat, sometimes to my detriment.

How about you? I doubt we think the same, that would be very boring.

Pretty much in agreement. I have a handful of friends that I'm so close with they have been given 'Honorary Family' status. Then I have friends, people who I have known for years but can't tell EVERYTHING to. They're just hang-out buddies. Then there are people I have met and like but don't hang out with a whole lot. Sad thing is, with the exception of my mother, my 'Honorary Family' means more to me than my real family......long story blah blah blah....
