Did You Ever See a U F O?

-
Spot on to RRR and Rocco. That sums it up very well. Me and some friends were cruising outside Ellsworth AFB drinking and partying, when we saw some lights that looked different. Well, it wad just a big ugly flying f* ck**. BUFF, aka B-52.... LOL. Had us going for about a minute there.

A guy once told me this.

Go tot he beach. Grab a handful of sand. That represents all the planets in our galaxy.

Now look down the beach. That represents all of the galaxies in the universe.

And that just represents our known universe.
It doesn't take into account everything else out there.

Like I said, our mind can not comprehend infinity. Same as when people try to understand what god is thinking and his power. We simply have no idea.

Come on man! Detail! Take the time, if you do I`ll detail my sighting:happy1:

Ok, but it's not very believable, and why I don't usually tell it.

I was about 16 and asleep in my bed when I woke to what sounded like a large generator whirring.
No variation in sound, just one long steady fairly loud hum.
Next I saw very bright lights outside through the curtains, and I figured some idiot was playing games in a 4x4 with spotlights or something.
The sound never changed though like you would expect if it was vehicle, but the lights were moving around the house and every window I went to, the lights were going around the next corner.
We didn't have fences around the house as we lived outside of town on a fair large property.
I went straight to the other side of the house in the living room and pulled the curtains open and there it was, dead center right in front of me outside the window about 15-20 feet from the house.
It looked a lot like one of those old wooden toy tops that you wind the string around and throw down, but more rounded on the top and there was some sort of spotlight on the top of it.
The body of it seemed to be a grayish metallic.
It wasn't spinning, but just hovering there about 2 feet off the ground and it changed where the light was shining by turning the entire body (or whatever)
At some point a few seconds later it went straight up and I lost track of it.
It moved way to fast for a living being I thought, so I eventually decided it was possibly a drone of some sort.

When I got up for school the next morning I told my Mom about this weird dream I had (when I woke up I thought I had just dreamed it) but she told me it wasn't a dream and that she had seen the same whatever it was out of her window also.

I went out in the morning and I visually scrubbed the entire yard and around the house for marks of anything out of the ordinary, but never found any clue whatsoever that it had ever been there.
Even after I saw it, I thought for sure I would go outside and find tire tracks or something, but that was not the case.

I asked her what she thought it was, and all she would do is shrug her shoulders and not answer.
After I got older she said things a lot like that happened around there before, but she was concerned that it would scare us kids so my Father and her never said anything.

The Amtrak car looking one was about a year after this one, and we had about 15 adults and kids over for a BBQ that evening, and people were going in the house and bringing chairs out to watch that one.
The next day we heard over 150 people reported seeing the exact same thing. (physical description, path that it took and all)

Our house was outside of the town area by a couple of miles and we didn't have any neighbors withing a few miles.

There was/is Stead airforce base about 80 miles to the southeast of us, but that thing didn't look or act like anything I had ever seen or heard of before.

Like I said, our mind can not comprehend infinity. Same as when people try to understand what god is thinking and his power. We simply have no idea.

The word infinity to me, means we have no idea.
I try not to use it, because I do not believe in it's clinical definition.

"Infinity" was what was beyond the edge of the ocean where you fell off if you sailed too far.:D

I thought this was a kind of cool.

My dad asked me this morning what Cfm my carb was that he was using. I didn't hear from him all day so I gave him a call and it went straight to voicemail like it was off which is odd since my dad needs his phone for his job. Anyways he called me back about thirty minutes ago and said he was at wright Patterson air force base and that they take your phone as soon as you get on base.

Bingo! The chances are far greater that other life exists in the universe, than not.

Chances are next to none. The stars if the right size has a habitable zone then the galaxy's have a habitable zone. Then the planet has to be the right size with a magnetic field to protect it from radiation. Then it needs protection with bigger planets close to them. Like a huge vacuum cleaner the takes the hits from asteroids.

Then it needs a proper size moon to help with the weather pattern. Everything has to be perfect. The moon can not be to close or to far.It has to be the right size also. The star has to put out the right type of light. No Antarctica no life. And there is much much more.

Look up bacterial flagellum. This might get you into some debates. Darwinism and believers that believe there was a creator. Look at it in a neutral mind. There are 5 or 6 main parts
that have to come together at the exact moment. Can not seek the parts with out the other parts.

It would take a chimp pounding a typewriter for a very very long time (millions of years) to come up with the word Hamlet once. The evidence is right in front of us. We are comfortable with are surroundings and has blinded us.

How can it be that we can ask the question?

I wouldn't say that's correct.

The major fallacy is that your assuming the other life has the same nessecities as humans. Like I said we have no clue what other life would be like IF it exist. You could be talking about a life form that has to eat gold for all we know. You can not take the principles and properties of earth and humans then apply them to other life forms IF they are out there. This question alone is much much much bigger then any of us and the only way it will be proved is if they come down and host a press conference.

This thread was for people to tell their stories though not to debate the stories. Making a joke out of some of these stories is extreamly insulting because it was more then likely a pretty big experience.

I apologize if I insulted anyone here.

Doubt you insulted anyone, Darryl, we all have our viewpoints and I enjoy them, thank you.

It is so amazing how everything works here on Earth to give life...without the Moon creating the tides, the Earth would not have the life it has

Relax, get a beer and listen to a little bit of this.

Exactly.

Ok, but it's not very believable, and why I don't usually tell it.

Your not the first to describe an event like that, there`s been others.
my sighting was back around the late 90s. I took my girlfriend and our kids on a camping trip on a small island in the middle of the shenandoah river, We had the place to ourselves. everyone was asleep, I was sitting by the campfire around 12-1 am and noticed some lights in the distance. I`m guessing about a mile away very low to the ground, couple hundred feet I`d say. I could not make out any shape, no noise, moving very slow. Picture a large circle stood on end. Had to be at least 30' diameter if not larger. With one red or orange light strobeing around that circle. no other lights what so ever. It would blink on at 12oclock an strobe clockwise the full circumfrance and go out. It was moving up through a valley with mountains on each side. The small valley turned and the object went around the bend out of sight.
I set there and watched this thing for close to 10 min.
The only man made craft that could fly that slow would be a blimp. Who the heck would fly a blimp that slow and low between a narrow mountain valley and go through the trouble of rigging up this strobe light, breaking the aircraft laws, all for a hoax? is beyond me.
I`ve never heard anyone else describe a sighting like mine. It`l stick with me for the rest of my life.

Darryl, you're thinking that life, as it exists on earth, is the standard for the universe. It's probably not. Life could exist on planets totally hostile to any form of life that lives on this planet.
The variable are endless.

Astrophysicists say that our Milky Way contains aprx. 100 billion earth like planets and aprx. 500 billion galaxies. So the number of habitable planets is estimated to be in the neighborhood of 50000000000000000000000. That's 22 0's. Considering the top five most abundant elements in the Universe are Hydrogen, Helium, Oxygen, Carbon, and Neon makes it seem even more reasonable to expect life elsewhere. Now add to that the fact that quantum entanglement & superposition is said to be fundamental to DNA structure and you have at least in my opinion the information of life distributed through the entire universe by means of non local states. But what do I know, I'm just a dumb ole country boy.

For me those odds trump Newtonian derived reasoning.

Then maybe you should say the same in quoted responses to the guys who've said "yes" and then posted videos from music bands.

Singling out Daryl is pretty bad form.

I agree that a major problem with most discussions about extraterrestrial life assume carbon based life. (...and I do understand that the fundamental elements that we are aware exist could sway towards that model).

For centuries we also believed that photosynthesis was the key to the development of life on earth, but VERY recently, we discovered chemosynthesis at the depths of the ocean where light from the sun does not penetrate.

Who's to say that, for example, silicon based life (other than silicon superconductor based artificial intelligence), or ammonia based life could develop elsewhere?

Very true, it seems the basic elements required for life should not be as much of the focus as the driving force or information that propagates dissimilar phase spaces than our own yet enables the evolution of self awareness within molecular structures.

Did any of you guys hear about this one?
It was so obviously a craft that no one denies it.
It went by not far from where I live and proceeded down to the Phoenix area, and slowly flew right over the city in plain view. "Approx three football fields wide"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Lights

Today on MSN there's video taken from a passenger plane of 3 orbs. What I saw a few years back looked like that.
