Does anybody know what the measurement is from WMS to WMS for a stock duster rear end?

WMS = Wheel Mounting Surface

I am trying to consider my options for a new rear axle and it is seeming impossible to locate an affordable 8 3/4. I do however have a line a Ford 9-inch that is very affordable and has the gearing I am looking for but I need to know if it close in width.

I remember reading that someone put an 8.8 from an Exploder in, so I am hoping this will work as well.

Thanks for the feedback. I read the article on 68Cuda.com and he had some good things to say about the Ford 9 inch. It also is a banjo style housing with a removable "pig" or center section.

I found a Ford 9 inch for $100 with 3.54 gearing and open diff. I am thinking it may be less expensive for me to buy this, have it narrowed and transfer the bracketry from my existing rear end to it. Rather than spending the next year looking for an 8 3/4 for a resonable price. It's unbelievable what the 8 3/4's are going for.

I dont know if you'd consider buying a housing off of e-bay but I see them listed there alot. Some guy narrows them to A body specs. or what ever size you want. He has good feedback so they must be OK. If I remember right he sells them for approx. $200-250. You'll pay that much for getting a 9" housing narrowed. Just food for thought.

I see 8 3/4's at the junkyards a lot, you just have to look around, the ones that go for a lot of money are from people who know what they have and know they can get a lot for them.... the 9" weighs a ton too compared to an 8 3/4
