does any one know,,where i can get a O - RING for a 904 trans dip stick tube ? thanks in advance,,,

i wasnt sure if there is a special size,,ill be headed there to see what i can find thanks

Stop in at a local tranny shop. they usually have small stuff like that laying around.

Seems like the kit Harbor Freight sells has that size in it.....

Little something I learned the hard way... the dipstick tube should stand in place natural or neutral or whatever is a good term. The anchor strap on the tube does only that. It shouldn't push or pull the tube. When the strap is bent and force is applied in getting the bolt in and tight, a new 'O'-ring might still seep fluid.
Chit happens during engine or trans R&R that goes un-noticed, until it begs attention anyway.

X2 and by the way, 727 and 904 take the same o-ring for the filler tube. Part number 3291L in my after market parts catalog. All the same from 1962-1999. They also started using a boot type seal in 1997.

Will the "boot type" seal fit the older trans?

The hole in the case is the same. The tube is smaller for the rubber sleeve style vs the oring style

thanks every one,,, again my local mom and pops auto parts came thru,,,they have a O-RING box, flip lid with all make trans O-RINGS they had one bin marked chrysler 727,,its the same as 904,,so looks like all i have to do it install it and hope there are no leaks,,,lol thanks a ton

Do you guys use any rtv or anything, or just lube up the o-ring and slide it in? These things are notorious for leaking.

A little Vasoline jelly. Don't nick the O ring on the way in. If the tube is positioned right it wont leak.

i put a little rtv on the metal tube just above the O-RING, the O-RING seemed to be a tad bit loose on the tube after it was put on in position to hold the o ring from kreeping up the tube during the install,,i wiped a little bit around the tube where it meeets the trans housing,,so far so good
